Based in South Devon where my home and work studio are both close to the sea, most mornings I walk the beaches. Inspiration is found in the seascapes as well as the smaller details of the shoreline, shells, seaweeds and rock formations. Stone is my chosen medium and working with it these last 16 years has not diminished my love for it. Carving sea animals in alabaster, soapstone and serpentine. Stingrays gliding over corals and Green Sea Turtles swimming over a rocky seabed. Beautiful white Portland naturally lends itself to the shells I carve. Whilst my abstract forms and figurative pieces are peaceful and contemplative. I also work to commission, enjoying the collaboration and new direction this can take my carving. Recently completing a large Peregrine falcon, I am currently working on a giant snail and soon to begin a public commission for a Salmon fishing memorial.Other work by this artist ...
