I am a stone sculptor working in various types of stones and practising different methods of carving.I develop my ideas through sculpture, carved words and relief design. I also develop my ideas through collage.My work is inspired by life's journey, how we change and grow within ourselves and how we connect with nature. The female form is my main muse to express my ideas, representing the spiritual essence of being in the world and tapping into my inner intuition through the process of carving stone. The sculptures l am entering the Delamore exhibition are based on the concept of the human journey and nature. ‘Life cycles’ is a poem l carved on Rosa marble from italy, l wrote, hand carved and gilded the piece and designed the relief carving of a female form. This piece came from a body of work where l was personally tuned into my existence in the world, it was during the covid years and l had time to reconnect into myself and the nature around me. I also carved a section of a larger poem I wrote around this time, from the same type of marble. ‘Listen to the trees’ came from spending a period of time in a wood in south devon working in a rewilding project, making a sculpture installation about trees and their importance to us, highlighting the wisdom they hold and the peace they give us if we tap into their energies. ‘Wisdom’ is carved on carrara marble. it is a piece that describes moving through the changing eras of maturity and the spiritual connections with the self during the process.
